Inspiring Patterns

Each issue of the All Ohio Shop Hop™ Magazine features several patterns by talented designers. Bonus patterns are also available in the free downloads area of our website. Fill out the form and bookmark the page for easy access.

We do our best to get the bonus patterns posted shortly after the magazine goes on sale each year. Sometimes it takes a little extra time if corrections are needed during the proofing process. All patterns should be posted by the start of the Shop Hop.

Jennifer Fulton – Inquiring Quilter
Jennifer Fulton is an author, teacher, and quilt pattern designer. She is also a former Island Batik Ambassador and now has three signature collections with them! Jennifer has been a quilter for over 27 years. Her style is a blend of modern and traditional, and her favorite color is purple. Jennifer is extremely curious and asks lots of questions – naming her business the Inquiring Quilter. As a teacher, Jennifer creates a unique student experience utilizing her experience, curiosity, and sense of fun in the classroom.

Terrie Welch – Quilters Journey
Terrie learned to sew from her mother, embroider from one grandmother, and crochet from another. A lifelong crafter, she taught herself to quilt and longarm 35 and 20 years ago, respectively. Terrie owns Quilter’s Journey in Salem, Missouri, where you may encounter animals including horses, cats, or her dog, Sadie. As a Certified Instructor for Studio 180 Design, Terrie teaches classes for her local Quilt Guilds and would love to visit your area to teach. Terrie lives on a farm north of Salem with her husband, Chris and dog, Sadie.

Leigh Headington – The Sweet Tea Girls Patterns
Leigh of “The Sweet Tea Girls Patterns” is a native Carolinian who grew up learning the love of fabrics from her grandmother, the true queen of sweet tea. Designing patterns is an exciting way to combine her engineering and project management background while providing a much-needed outlet for her creativity and passion.

Phyllis Fay – Tucker University
Phyllis is a co-author of Tucker University, along with her business partner, Beth Sidley. Together, Phyllis and Beth utilize their teaching and shop owner experience to create turnkey curriculum for other instructors. This allows easy access to Studio 180 Design tools and techniques.  The Tucker University BOM programs are extremely popular and have been crafted to allow quilters to build their piecing and design skills.

Carolyn Burgess & Heidi Dietz – Appliques Quilts and More
Carolyn and Heidi have been designing patterns and vending at quilt shows together since 2012. In 2023, Carolyn transitioned from an online studio to opening a quilt shop. The timing couldn’t have been better, with over 1,300 shoppers visiting during the Shop Hop. The success of the hop led to numerous online sales, returning customers, and custom orders. Their Mission is to provide you with quality unique products to help you create beautiful quilts, accurately and as easily as possible.  They offer a variety of appliques, silhouettes, quilt kits, patterns, and more, along with custom laser cutting. This year, they also added machine embroidery classes and monthly sit-and-sews with snacks!

Sonya Vilvens – The Quilt Cabin
Sonya Vilvens, a native of southwest Ohio and a Wilmington College graduate, began quilting in 1999. She co-owns The Quilt Cabin in Goshen, OH, which she opened with her mother Linda Hahn in Autumn 2005. Soon after, she started designing block of the month programs and machine applique patterns. She now sells full-size quilt patterns exclusively at The Quilt Cabin under the name Jimmy Quilt Designs, named after her cat, Jimmy, who influenced some of her first applique patterns.

Timothy Payne – Quilters Haven & Unique Michigan Gift Shop
Timothy Payne is a photographer and graphic designer. In 2020, he co-founded Quilters Haven & Unique Michigan Gifts in South Haven, Michigan, with his business partner, a longarm quilter named Robin Ellison. Together, they learned the fabric side of the business. Shortly after opening the store, they invested in a copy of EQ8 and the quilt design bug bit both of them. Timothy has also designed fabric for both QT Fabrics and Windham. “Life is good…but more often it is great!”

Rachel King – A Time to Craft
Rachel is the creator and owner of A Time to Craft LLC in Wooster, Ohio, where she shares her love for sewing, quilting, knitting, crochet, painting, and other crafts. A life-long crafter, she is also a music educator and church musician. Rachel began sewing as a child with her mother and grandmother and later hand quilted with the East Chippewa Church of the Brethren Women’s Fellowship. She went from piecing, to creating her own designs, to more recently free motion longarm quilting during the pandemic. Rachel lives in Wooster with her husband, Scott, and their tuxedo cat, Felix.
